Bring the Artist

One of the most rewarding perks of being the East-coast beauty Guru at Barneys New York is destination weddings.

Particularly beach destinations.  In 5-star resorts.  With spas.  And infinity pools.

Makeup for weddings is an intricate tapestry of contradictions; soft and natural, but with pop, light coverage that won’t move or fade, lips that are kissable but color that stays put.  Toss in heat, sun, humidity and wind and you can see why it’s so important to bring your make up artist with you.

I can’t stress this enough.  (

I joined Tamara Devlin and her fiancé Andrew in Providenciales on Turks and Caicos in May for her wedding.

I chose a range of products that would play into the backdrop of blue and turquoise and the vivid pink bougainvillea that were everywhere.

Tamara was happy to report that she looked as polished (and from my point of view, naturally beautiful) at the end of the night as she did when it began.

A major coup, because as any celebrity or avid Facebooker can attest; digital media is forever…
