40 drummers drumming in honor of Our Magnificent Earth

It’s Earth Month and this April we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Scott Hahn of Loomstate once explained to me that Earth Day was founded by a man named Gaylord Nelson. In the 60s he tried to convince Pres. Kennedy to bring more attention to environmental issues. It wasn’t such a smooth ride in the beginning but in the Spring of 1970 Nelson led a successful demonstration across the country addressing the need for awareness with regards to the environment.

Last night I went to Loomstate’s celebration of the 40th Earth Day at Good Units at the Hudson. There were 40 drummers & 40 drum sets–led by Hisham Akira Bharoocha–you can imagine the power and intensity of the sound they made. It was incredible.

Thank you Loomstate and the drummers for a memorable performance. (It was worth my ears being shot for the rest of the night.)
